Come Hang with Me (and a Bunch of Hot Nerds) in a Pool
If you’re smart, sexy, and subscribed, meet me at the spa.
Hi lovers, friends, and the people who pay my bills,
You’ve read my takes on politics, pop culture, and the occasional man who broke my heart. Now it’s time to hear them… in a bathing suit.
Yes, you read that correctly. I’ll be reading at Substack’s first-ever LA bathhouse salon, and naturally, it’s a celebration of desire. It’s called Substack Presents: A Reading on Desire, and it will take place in an actual pool at the iconic Spa Palace in Koreatown in Los Angeles. So bring your best thoughts, and your cutest swimsuit.
This event is for paid subscribers only (you’re the reason this whole thing floats), and because the pool only fits so many wet, radiant intellectuals at once, capacity is capped at 200. First come, first serve. No exceptions. No +1s. No “I’ll just sneak in late” energy.
Substack is being very strict about this, so if you want to sip wine in a sauna while someone reads a horny essay about longing, this is your window. Secure your spot!
Here’s the lineup of writers who will be bringing the heat, both literary and literal:
Aparna Nancherla, Brandon Kyle Goodman, Holly Solem, Liz Plank (that’s me), Mina Le, Paige Elkington, and Viv Chen.
We’ll be answering one burning question: What does desire mean to you right now?
There will be wine. There will be poetry. There may be steam. This is the kind of event your ex will pretend not to see on Instagram but absolutely will.
If you’re a paid subscriber, you’ll see a link to buy tickets below. If you're not yet…this is your sign. The water’s warm. Come swim with us.
More soon,
Liz 💋
