hate meditating? do this instead.
our next sharing circle will be all about a new anti-meditation hack: emotional granularity.
If you read this newsletter, you’ve probably heard me brag about how I won the sibling Olympics with my sister Emilie Plank—a.k.a. the human Buddha I was lucky enough to grow up with. She didn't just create elaborate personalities for all my stuffed monkeys and dream up intricate scenarios for us to play in (no wonder I thought I was Jane Goodall), but she also made safe spaces for my many feelings. Now, she’s a world-class elementary school teacher and facilitator, helping kids develop emotional literacy and healthy relationships. Emilie also wrote and illustrated a touching children's book called “Les Galettes De Grand-Maman,” which promotes inclusivity and acceptance of refugees, and is working on a beautiful second book about growing up with a parent who has depression.
Growing up with Emilie was like having a built-in guide to the emotional universe. While most siblings were fighting over the remote (okay, we did that too), I had a sister who could diffuse tantrums like a pro-level negotiator at a hostage situation (and yes, sometimes the hostage was the remote). I’ve always admired her ability to resolve conflicts—whether they’re internal or with others—which is why I’m thrilled she’s bringing that same magic to all of us with a crash course on improving mental health through emotional granularity—no incense, meditation, or deep breathing required. Emilie will help us learn to name our feelings rather than running away rom them so that we can move through painful emotions with more ease.
You can think of emotional granularity as your new secret weapon for mental health. Emilie will show us how naming our emotions with precision can transform our mental health, without needing to spend hundreds on therapy or guided meditation classes. Whether you’re navigating stress, joy, or the thousand feelings in between, this session will equip you with practical tools to understand and manage your emotions like a pro. And who better to guide us than my incredible sister!
Join us for an hour of learning, sharing, and connecting. It’s your chance to soak up Emilie's wisdom and to share your own experiences in a safe and supportive space. So grab your spot, bring your curiosity, and let’s get granular about our feelings together. See you there!
