Before we get into it, I have a special announcement… we’ve secured our next guest for our sharing circle on Sunday June 2nd at 9AMPT-12ET!! I’m thrilled to announce that we will be joined by Sahaj Kaur Kohli, a licensed therapist and the creator of Brown Girl Therapy, the biggest mental health community organization for children of immigrants. Her new critically book But What Will People Say?: Navigating Mental Health, Identity, Love, and Family Between Cultures is all about how to heal in a society that wasn’t built for you. We will be discussing how to cope with intergenerational trauma and a world that takes a toll on your mental health. Our live events take a lot of work which is why they’re for paid subscribers only. Your subscription is so pivotal and helps pay the rent for zoom and cover the overhead costs of running this newsletter. So please make sure you’re a paid subscriber so that you don’t miss out on all the fun!
When I was growing up, a fight would always break out on mother’s day. No matter what we did to celebrate, we never quite got it right and my mother would end up crestfallen. I would either blame myself, or blame my mom, which now that I think about it, seems pretty convenient for the government! Never did I imagine that perhaps we had all been set up to fail.
There’s no holiday quite as dystopian as mother’s day, especially in a place like the United States. I mean think about it…
