My (not so) hot take I was just talking with friends about is that: Healthy/engaged/emotionally intimate communities have the capacity to change and heal the world.
Exactly. We are told we have to do it all on our own and pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps (which is not possible), and forget that having a group of people around us can keep us falling in the first place.
I love the West Wing quote “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful and committed people can change the world” because I think some institutions benefit from people believing that they have no power.
Hi Liz! I just emailed you / responded to today's Substack about volunteering support for the sharing circle in exchange for a subscription. I am a Community Manager and would love to help! :]
It says I'm a subscriber - if not please bill me. If I can contribute I'd love to, funnily enough I have made a living out of writing ever since I started journalism school in 1976, nowadays I find it increasingly difficult to write a full sentence...anyways let's see what develops in retirement
This is gorgeous and I hope I’m able to join!

i totally agree we’ve privatized stress when our communities have the power to hold us together ❤️
