I am feeling hopeful for the first time in awhile. I've been so discouraged by the media's pandering to Donald Trump as though they wanted to help him win, which would upend our lives. I am volunteering for VP Harris' campaign, and I am all in! Let's do this!
I feel really good and excited, despite myself. My initial reactions on Sunday were decidedly negative - "where has she been?" "She's a cop!" "America won't elect a black woman!" "She doesn't unify the left like Obama did!" (these are all texts I actually sent) and now I'm thoroughly eating my words, and all of my concerns have been addressed by the smart people I follow (like you!). I just subscribed to this substack and I'm excited. So, thank you! And LFG!
I was resigned to voting for an administration before this, but now, VP Harris is bringing a pretty cool energy to the race. I think as this election progresses, I'm going to be finding even more things to like about her.
I mean, dropping an F-Bomb as part of amazing advice during the APAICS Summit was a vibe.
The comment about Trump, "I know his type."
I'm here for it. I want a Trump/Harris debate SO MUCH, and any of the VP candidates being floated so far will mop the floor with Vance.
I have wanted a Pete-Kamala ticket (either order works) for 5 years. I likely have to wait another 4 but it’s actually a possibility now!
Liz - your writing is 🤌🏻 - intelligent, educated, and eloquent. You are truly advocating for unity in this human project and that is a vibe (as the kids say😜)! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Liberals “grumble” about her stance on Israel? That choice of language makes me sick. Honestly I have so much to say but I’m just really really sad. Are we really voting for people because they have cool memes or Tik tok dances? Forgetting the fact that 39,000 people have been murdered in Gaza and tons have been put behind bars in the US? That the Biden Harris administration has spent 6.5 billion dollars on security for Israel while people die on our own streets? I’m so disheartened about the fact that the media has shifted entirely away from her political record and the policy that she has the capacity to change. This feels like Barbie-movie feminism without any acknowledgement of the world real humans are living in. Is she worse than Biden (and we’re thanking him for funding a genocide now?) Absolutely not. Is it a must that we vote or throw our support behind the lesser of two evils? Also no.
“Putting our movement before our egos like Biden did…” Biden didn’t step aside for the movement. He stepped aside because donors pulled the money necessary to continue. Nothing more. Presidential elections are not all of “our” movement and the choice to be vocally critical of them is about anything beside ego. It’s about caring so so deeply for humanity that you know more is possible.
To say you respect people’s choices and diminish the complexity of their feelings to a “grumble” is so so disheartening and unfortunately not so surprising :/

i hope we see a debate but judging by the excuses he’s been giving i think he’s too scared to debate a girl 🙃🙃🙃
