So the Gulf Can Transition, But People Can’t?
Trump renames the gulf, but can’t handle a pronoun.
If you thought we had reached peak absurdity, Donald Trump just said Hold my Diet Coke (with a plastic straw). Because the very same man who believes gender is fixed at birth and that no one should ever, under any circumstances, be allowed to transition, has now forcibly assigned a new identity to an entire body of water.
Yes. The Gulf of Mexico, a vast, unbothered entity that has existed for millennia, must now go by the name "Gulf of America." Not because she asked for it. Not because she felt like her name didn’t align with who she truly was. Not because she had a heartfelt realization after years of quiet reflection. But because Donald Trump, a man whose daily makeup routine involves so much spray tan that it could legally qualify as brownface, decided that this body of water was simply too Mexican for his taste.
The man who insists that identities cannot be changed, that names are sacred and immutable, and that transitioning is a crime against nature, has now forcibly transitioned the Gulf of Mexico against her will.
And just to prove how strong and manly he is, when the Associated Press continued calling the Gulf by her actual name assigned at birth, Trump banned them from the White House. That’s right, the most powerful man in the world got so deeply in his feelings over a geography book not validating his personal truth that he threw a tantrum and kicked out journalists.
This is a man who represents a party that loses its mind if a trans person uses a bathroom that doesn’t match the gender they were assigned at birth. A party that screams about facts and biology, insisting that words have meanings and you can’t just change things because you feel like it. And yet, here he is, having an emotional breakdown because people won’t use the name he personally assigned to a body of water.
Trump is throwing the kind of tantrum his party claims only liberals have. He’s demanding the world validate his reality, insisting that everyone play along with his rebrand, and lashing out when they refuse. He is, by his own party’s definition, the snowflake who needs a safe space.
So he can cry, he can ban reporters, he can use his giant sharpie over maps, but at the end of the day, the ocean does not care. And if anyone needs a safe space to process that? It’s not trans people. It’s Trump.
if the gulf is allowed to transition so should everyone else!
The gulf is just going through a phase of being warmer than usual, it’s not climate change. Dominant culture “parent” is trying to Rand McNally their future dream into reality. Im here for it, transition or not
