Liz, thanks from the bottom and the top of my heart, dammit from my whole being, for taking time out from your hectic schedule to pen this reminder that we’ve been here before and there’s a new generation still carrying the torch. This crone was bending over and kissing her ass goodbye in the sixties, marching against sending Kiwi lads to the Vietnam war, and on the streets for a nuclear-free New Zealand, and against apartheid (huge) and getting into the Iraq war. I’m so grateful to your generation for carrying the torch because I may live at the bottom of the world but what’s happening in your front yard is knocking on our back door.

As long as you are in my mailbox with words of love and resilience I sense that sanity prevails. I don’t subscribe to Lies Social president Plump’s channel, I find my Airplane Mode subscription the most important, keep up your good work

Not sure how I would be navigating any of this without your perfect blend of truth-telling, snark, and hilarity. Thank you for always knowing what to say and in doing so, giving us words

Going to work and giving my all *is* my resistance. I'm a nurse. I care for people. I advocate for patients aggressively. I educate. I hunt down resources. I listen and make connections.

I am terrified of what this regime is doing to health care. But it's just one more facet of human rights that is being systematically stripped away. Which is why I can't leave the field, even though I am burning myself out.

The average loss of travel $$s for the US from Canadians is between 40 and 50%. Will it make a difference to US policies towards Canada, hardly (read Canadian sarcasm). So now that WW3 soft start has plopped, my friends cover their ears and think about getting their affairs in order. This is not a reaction that affects change. How do I motivate my peers when they are worn down by 9 years of Trumpism and guilt for their grandchildren. I cannot bring up current news without necks bending downward. Eyes peek up when I speak of local arts events or my search for affordable olive oil. Despite drinking more wine, good sleep evades us, so we purchase devices that monitor blood pressure. How do we find the fired to get out to stomp and shout? Our combativeness, eroded by stealth, needs a charismatic leader to kick start us into revolt, before a truly catastrophic event occurs.
