I don't know about the Adderall shortage, because I can't even talk to my psychiatrist about ADD meds until I get tested. As you say about tiktok and lax rules during pandemic, ADD meds were over prescribed. Now you need to be tested, but because of the abuse my insurance doesn't cover testing anymore. I need to pay ~$1500 for a private test. As one of my support group leaders put it, "One more flaming hoop of impossibility to jump through to get your ADD treated."

Getting tested (again) before trying to get a new prescription has been my latest adventure with getting effective medication like Adderall and Vyvanse, partially thanks to inconsistent (and frequently inadequate) healthcare coverage by employers. I never used either very often, but they really helped on the worst days.

I relate to the journey leading up to a late diagnosis of ADHD so much. I was always considered 'undisciplined', 'inconsistent', 'disorganized', 'lazy' and more. When it came to schooling, I think I lucked out with grades, but it wasn't until college and my professional career did my ADHD's negative impacts really came out. It wasn't until a friend who also had ADHD urged me to take it seriously and get officially diagnosed. Now, getting the medication has been hard for me because of inconsistent & frequently inadequate healthcare coverage. It's been an adventure! 😫

I didn't know about the Adderall shortage, but the last time I picked up my birth control pills they said they didn't have any and didn't know when they'd be getting any in. So, that was great to know. Fortunately, they were able to find another pharmacy that had ONE left, but seriously, I understand a shortage, but how can we find out about it BEFORE we're completely out??

Grateful for all of your work, but especially bringing this topic to the surface. I noticed the tampon shortage two weeks ago. At two separate and LARGE CVS stores in Los Angeles, the tampon shelves were nearly empty. Yet all other shelves were full. What is going on?! Hearing about the ADHD medication shortage is frightening. What will be next?

Saw a home made sign, like the type of sign selling local firewood, on a major intersection looking for diabetes test strips.

Perhaps set up a booth outside of upcoming music festivals, "Cash for adderall"

Just great writing, Liz Plank. I’ve never been diagnosed. I am kinda hesitant because of stigma like I wanna get adderall to get blasted or something egh. Or its too late to fix what I need working. Anyway. Your advocacy helps. Right here. Right now. Thank you for your work.
