I realize the substance of the post goes deeper than the headline...but really the headline is so accurate. All these "tough guys" online that have to proclaim to the world they are alphas are likely just projecting, and are deeply insecure at heart...and trump makes them feel secure. Or something.

Indeed, they are WANNABE alphas, as genuine alphas don't feel that they need to prove to the world how supposedly alpha they are.

Aesop wrote a parable about the difference between a cold winter wind and sunshine. It spoke and speaks of the difference between "burn it all down" and a different way forward. A way of, yes, fight, but also, nurture, embrace, acknowledge.

Your words of simple explanation, that no one understands the oppressor better than the oppressed in response to a black man about a woman's view was crystal clear.

There's a clear difference between flame throwing, which I've been and done, and Trump and his supporters are doing (or trying badly to deny) and an alternative of acknowledging pain, embracing joy, smiling, nurturing, holding out a hand.

I'm only here to say this. I've been wrong. And, I can see clearly what's working, the (necessary) difference it's making, Enough to stay out of the way. To support, and embrace it.

I'm not a "man's man". I've been wrong and admitted it. I've been pushed aside, ignored, and deserved it.

I'm 69 years old and unlikely to change. But, I've always been man enough to listen, to be able to hear what others have to say, and to acknowledge my mistakes.

I'm here to wholeheartedly endorse a different way forward. And I believe the difference isn't just the next 4 years, but, absolutely, undeniably begins with the next 4 years and what's done not only to undo the damage that has been, but, will be (would've been done if he losses). And to be patient enough and outspoken enough to know that it's not just about the next election, but, of how close we are to the brink. And not just turning the page, but, as Stephen Colbert has said, about "burning the book".

With Kamala's election we have a chance to change direction, to change the tone, to undo the damage - a victory for strength, the kind that, as Aesop also explained, of strength in numbers vs individuals. And, in that, the power not just of one vote, but enough votes to speak loudly and clearly to say, "Enough!".

I hope this is a significant beginning of a different way forward. One that builds, and embraces, and nurtures, a difference between light that illuminates and shows a path, vs a flame that has the ability not only to light, but, to destroy.

I choose the light. I support a light that does not destroy. A game that is not "zero sum, I win you lose", that acknowledges pain, embraces what we have in common (yet again) while acknowledging our diversity.

My voice is my vote. I cast it for Kamala.

I"m here (again) because I endorse and embrace your point of view.

Shine a light.

Very well-said as usual, Liz. Indeed, while I didn't coin the term, and I forgot who originally did, we need TONIC masculinity as the antidote to toxic masculinity.
