I think part of this conversation is tricky because while men are responsible for pregnancy, many women, including myself, would not want men to have a say regarding whether or not I decide to carry a pregnancy to term. Yes, they’re responsible, but ultimately, the decision is mine whether I want to go through pregnancy, labor, child birth, etc.
Similarly, if abortion is not the choice and the man is not a continued partner, name a thing men hate more than child support. Even if the state requires men to uphold their fiscal responsibility for pregnancy (in the most basic and barest sense), the work of parenting is still left up to women/mothers. Not that that is the way things should be, I absolutely think we should question that premise, I just wonder what the solution to that is.
Basically what happens if men are responsible? What implications does that have for women?
You're asking incels how many abortions they've caused? Of course they said zero, it's like asking a beautiful woman how many speeding tickets they've ever gotten?
Definitely not but like all living things i'm sure you have your ugly moments. I can't remember if it was Confucius , Kant or Charlie Sheen who said "every time you see a hot woman, there's a guy who's tired of f*king her."
Back when the world was sane and women were in control of their bodies, a pregnant woman could obtain an abortion without interference from the father. Bringing men into the equation by making them aware they too are responsible for abortions, opens us to the probability that the impregnator will have to be in agreement with any abortion. I suppose this might be better than a total abortion ban; at least some percentage of women would have impregnator's in agreement with their choice.
Off topic, but would you consider creating and marketing those little subversive signs you posted around New Orleans? With just a little sticky stuff in the middle on the back? ((I don’t want to damage property). I’d buy a bunch of them!
on the hunt for a man who has caused a single abortion
Uh. Hi?
Wow this is so spot on. Love your writing! This reminds me of the conception starts at erection bill that is being introduced in Ohio ☺️
i am living for all the politicians introducing bills to show the other side's absurdity!!
