If ICE Wants to Raid Someone, It Should Be Elon Musk

Undocumented workers face deportation while white-collar criminals get promotions.

If ICE is so eager to kick down doors and raid someone’s home, I have a suggestion: Elon Musk.

You know, the actual immigrant being accused of committing actual crimes. The one who somehow gained access to government payment systems without proper oversight or security clearance. The one under SEC investigation for securities fraud and manipulating stock markets, and now facing a lawsuit over his seemingly illegal access to classified U.S. intelligence. The one taking billions in government funding while insisting he’s a self-made genius. The one breaking into the US government waging an anti-constitutional coup?

Instead, they’re going after the dishwasher.

Because that’s what weak men do. They don’t take on actual threats, they go after the easiest target.

Trump and his goons love to act tough, but stopping a real villain takes actual strength, which Trump doesn’t have, because Musk is paying his bills.

Musk’s businesses have sucked up at least $15.4 billion in government contracts over the last decade, plus billions more in subsidies, and yet, in 2018, he paid exactly $0 in federal income tax. That’s right, the dishwashers and farmworkers Trump deports are collectively paying more into the system than Musk.

And what does Musk want to do with all that free government money? Make sure no one else gets any. In other words, he wants government spending for his companies, just not for you!

Trump’s tax cuts (which Musk seems to be trying to make permanent) have already nearly doubled billionaire wealth, increasing by $2.9 trillion, and guess who benefits personally from that! But that wasn’t enough. Musk now wants $2 trillion in government spending cuts, which would get him pretty close to what’s needed to keep those tax cuts in place forever.

So to be clear: Musk has gotten rich off your tax dollars, paid nothing in return, and now wants to gut public services that you paid for to fund his own tax breaks. And ICE is out here deporting the guys scrubbing your dishes.

This is theater. The Trump administration wants you looking at ICE raids, not at billionaires robbing you blind.

And the ICE show? It’s fake.

Even Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has pointed out to WBUR that there hasn’t been an actual increase in ICE enforcement, just an increase in TV cameras. As journalist Roberto Suro put it, "The strategy very much relies on this kind of news media coverage to make it look bigger than it is." It’s all a performance meant to make you think something is being done, while the real crime is happening in broad daylight.

Because stopping a real villain? That would take actual courage.

And Trump doesn’t have it, because Musk owns him.

Elon Musk and his billionaire friends benefited massively from Trump’s presidency. In exchange, Musk is pushing Trump’s tax cuts, demanding public spending cuts, and positioning himself to keep leeching off the government indefinitely.

So ICE will throw a father in cuffs for picking vegetables, but they won’t even subpoena Musk for stealing from the U.S. government. They’ll deport a nanny for taking care of kids, but won’t touch the billionaire who tanked markets with a tweet. They’ll raid a factory worker’s home for driving without a license, but won’t stop the man who is hijacking national security in real time.

This isn’t law enforcement. This is cowardice.

Trump and Musk aren’t strong. They’re two overgrown failsons who need government handouts just to survive.

And yet, ICE is out here terrorizing working families while the real criminals steal the country from under you.

Elon Musk is robbing you blind. And Trump? He’s just holding the door open.
